As part of its commitment to experiential learning and civic education, the Dept of Social Sciences, American International University–Bangladesh (AIUB) organized an educational visit to the Jatiya Sangsad on 14 July 2026 for their undergraduate students of the Bangladesh Studies course. Organized by Dr. Mohammad Zahidul Islam Khan, Registrar and Course Teacher, Department of Social Science, the visit was made possible through the kind approval of the Secretary, Parliament Secretariat.

The students witnessed live parliamentary proceedings, including the presentation and debate on the Bill for establishing a new public university by the Hon'ble Minister of Education and the adoption of a condolence motion on the passing of the former Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.

Observing a live parliamentary session enabled the students of Bangladesh Studies course to connect classroom learning with practical experience, deepening their understanding of parliamentary democracy, legislative procedures, public policy formulation, and the constitutional role of the Jatiya Sangsad in democratic governance.

During the visit, the students also learned about the rich archival records maintained in the National Parliament Library, highlighting the importance of preserving legislative history as a valuable resource for researchers, policymakers, and future generations.

On behalf of the visiting class, Class Monitor Sartaj Zia (Student ID 25-63013-2) thanked the officials of the Parliament Secretariat, appreciating their professionalism, hospitality, and excellent arrangements that made the visit both educational and memorable. He also noted that the experience deepened their classroom knowledge on Parliament's role in upholding democracy, accountability, and good governance, adding, "We will carry these lessons with us as responsible citizens and future leaders of Bangladesh.”

The visit reflects AIUB's continued commitment to providing students with practical learning experiences that complement classroom teaching and prepare them to become responsible citizens and future leaders capable of contributing meaningfully to the nation's democratic and socio-economic development.
