On Thursday, 9 July 2026, The IEEE AIUB Student Branch, in collaboration with the IEEE Computer Society AIUB Student Branch Chapter, successfully organized a workshop titled “LaTeX Essentials for Research and Publication”. The workshop aimed to introduce students to the fundamentals of LaTeX and its applications in research writing and academic publication.
The program commenced with the inaugural speech by Prof. Dr. A B M Siddique Hossain, Dean, FE, AIUB. He thanked the IEEE AIUB Student Branch for organizing such an informative session and emphasized the importance of global academic exposure for students. He then invited the distinguished speaker of the session, Ms. Tahia Hossain, Lecturer, Department of Computer Science & Engineering, United International University (UIU). The speaker began by introducing herself and sharing her academic background. During the workshop, she explained the fundamentals of LaTeX, including document structure, formatting, inserting figures, tables, equations, citations and references. She also demonstrated how to prepare professional research papers using LaTeX and shared practical tips to help students improve their academic writing and publication
The workshop concluded with an interactive Q&A session where the speaker addressed various queries from enthusiastic participants, creating an engaging and informative discussion environment.
Following the Q&A session, Mr. Nafiz Ahmed Chisty, Associate Professor and Head (Undergraduate Program), Department of EEE, FE, AIUB, delivered the closing remarks by expressing his sincere gratitude to the speaker for the insightful session and to the IEEE AIUB Student Branch for successfully organizing the workshop. He then presented a token of appreciation to the speaker in recognition of her valuable contribution.
The event started at 11:00AM (GMT+6) and concluded at 1:30PM (GMT +6). A total of 45+ participants attended the workshop.
