For the third time in AIUB, the Department of Marketing organized a competitive event based on new product idea generation & development of marketing strategies entitled ‘AIUB Future Market Planners 2014’ on December 4, 2014 (Thursday). The objective of the event was to improve the analytical abilities of the students and to offer an opportunity where they can exercise their marketing knowledge by participating in different creative tasks.
It was a daylong event divided into 3 different rounds, where students from all the sections of the course ‘Marketing Management’ participated. The first round was Idea Generation, including product category selection, proposing a brand name, designing brand logo and developing the brand/company slogan. Approximately 75 groups including 4 members in each groups participated in the round. The second round was Development of Print Advertisement, where selected 21 groups from first round were asked to develop a print advertisement for their respective product. The third and final round was Marketing Strategies Development & Presentation, where selected 5 groups had to develop and present their total plan regarding marketing strategies and tactics to commercialize their proposed products to the mass market. After a comprehensive panel judgment, Champion, 1st Runner Up and 2nd Runner up group were selected respectively as the Winners.
The program was officially inaugurated at 10:30 am by Prof. Dr. Charles C. Villanueva, Pro-Vice Chancellor and Dean, FBA and Dr. Ehsan Uddin Ahmed, Associate Dean, FBA and Head, Dept. of Marketing in the ground floor of Campus 5. Faculties from the Dept. of Marketing and others were also present during the inauguration. Among others, Dr. Nisar Ahmed, Director, MBA Program, Mr. AK Nazmul, Director, BBA Program, Ms. Farheen Hassan, Head, Dept. of MGMT (HRM, MGMT & MIS), Mr. Zobair Shibli, Head, Dept. of Operations Management and Mr. Zakaria Masud, Head, Dept. of Accounting visited the different rounds of the event.
The event was jointly organized by Mr. Hamidul Islam, Mr. Stanley Rodrick, Mr. Mahmud Habib Zaman and Mr. Saihad Shahid Rahman, Faculties of the Dept. of Marketing. All other respective faculties from the department supervised & judged in different rounds and contributed to make the event a successful one. Walton Micro-tech Corporation supported the event as a sponsor.
At the end of the event, Dr. Ehsan Uddin Ahmed, presented Trophies, Crests and Certificates to the Champions, Runner Ups, Finalists and the Mentors of that event followed by vote of thanks to the organizers.
