A group of events were arranged in the eve of “IEEE DAY 2011” on 4th and 5th October, 2011 by IEEE AIUB STUDENT BRANCH. The 2-day long celebration was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Bashudeb Chandra Ghosh, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB. On the 1st day, a quiz contest and a seminar were held at Campus-2 (Room #266). A good number of students joined in the contest. Then the seminar on “Quantum Key Distribution Emphasizing On Information Reconciliation” was presented by Ms. Gouri Rani Barai, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB. On the 2nd day , a workshop titled “MATLAB” was arranged. It was conducted by Mr. AKM Arifuzzaman, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB. At the closing ceremony, certificates were handed over to the participants of quiz contest and workshop by Prof. Dr. ABM Siddique Hossain (Dean, Faculty of Engineering), Mr. Manzur H Khan(Coordinator, OSA), Prof. Dr.Bashudeb Chandra Ghosh (Faculty of Engineering), Ms. Jumanah Shireen Khan (Assistant Professor & Coordinator of EEE dept.), Mr. Rinku Basak (Assistant Professor & Coordinator of EEE dept.) Prizes for the Champion,1st runner up and 2nd runner up in the quiz contest were also distributed. It was the second time in history when all engineers worldwide celebrated the IEEE Day. As a leading organization IEEE defines standards and directions in technology but as a leader, it is also responsible for future generations of engineers. Thus, this year the theme of the IEEE Day was “Empowering Members to Create the Future”. Accordingly, for the very first time ever, Bangladesh is also celebrating the IEEE Day, along with other countries of the world. Moreover, this time, IEEE AIUB also took the initiative to celebrate the first ever IEEE day.
